I'm in Canada...but would never go anyway...I don't do boxing day either...all my shopping is done between 8 and 9 am, and not on a Friday if I can avoid it:>) I can't stand the mall when it's quiet, never mind when it's busy!

I'm with you on the mall thing. I detest going there. I much prefer strip shopping centers where you can go into a store and get out without having to avoid eye contact with kiosk vendors hawking their wares.
We started doing Secret Santa last year, and it's so much easier. I assign everyone a number on a list, and then have everyone pick a number. Whatever number they choose is who they buy for, and that's it. None of us have an over-abundance of cash, so we set a dollar amount to keep the gift purchases fairly even. It worked out well last year, and everyone was more than willing to do it again this year.

I guess I am a minority!! I hate to shop but I LOVE black Friday. I usually don't even know what I want and usually buy to much but I meet the nicest people. One year I had just had hip replacement and was still using crutches!! Everyone was SOOOOOO nice. I say I am going to use the crutches every year but I haven't. Last year with Cell phones I was the "bring your stuff here and I will watch it for my daughter and her friend!!! I can hardly wait!!!

I've never gone before but went last year with my best friend. I didn't mind getting up early, or trying to find a parking space or any of that. The people were curtious in the store, no shoving or pushing. I didn't buy anything but went with Nancy because she wanted to pick up some things. I was really bothered by what people were buying and mostly with their credit and welfare cards. The Tv's, large electronic items, toys etc. I really don't want to ever go again but would if Nancy really wanted. Nancy lives about an hour away from me and comes up to stay for the holiday duration through Sunday.
