Once I went on Black Friday but not to the malls. We have a store called Global Gallery and it has items from Ten Thousand Villages and Fair Trade and other groups that help craft people from poorer countries sale their cottage industry hand made items for a fair price that the maker receives. It was not packed -sadly, but it was busier than normal, which was good, and not "deals" except maybe free coffee or tea to drink. But I was able to get some very nice and unique hand made gifts and no craziness.

Besides, the past several years I have seen and taken advantage of really good sales,(50% off)in the weeks before T-day. I have a co-worker who "loves" to go on B friday and do all of her shopping all day long. I'm happy to be at home. ;-)

The one positve thing about the WAY To early hauling out of Christmas items is: if you have to send a package overseas, its easier to do with stores having it out before Thanksgiving-its the only positive thing I can think of.

I do my shopping mostly with "mouse in hand"..That can be dangerous too but not nearly as stressful...

one year- only. Went with my sister to Sears. wanted a TV. they didn't have any- noticed it was online- so I call home- imagine a sleepy teen son getting up- turning on computer and ordering Mom a TV at 6:00 a.m. Ah, that wonderful invention of cell phones. In the meantime I am waiting in line in Sears for something else- people around me were amazed, including sister. I no longer go out, will get up for the online ordering but no more out in the cold and dark.

(the TV was for my sewing room- it was needed)

I usually do but my daughter isn't coming down for thanksgiving this year. So I probably won't. I usually do most of my shopping on line. If I could, I would do my grocery shopping on line.

I went once in NY State with my mom, hubs' mom, and my three little girls (two still in strollers) and one that should have been. It was freezing/snowing/blowing outside, and hotter than Hades inside! And that was before hot flashes (at least for me!). It was a once in a lifetime never to be repeated experience!

I love Black Friday shopping. I've never once been pushed or shoved. Everyone that I've met has been super polite. Then again I don't shop for electronics or go to Wal-Mart. :)
