i hate it when i cry. my nose gets red, my upper lip swells, my eyes "turtle", and get all puffy. that said--it doesn't stop me. i'm tearing up just reading this page. "real" tears are cleansing. "onion" tears are not. a study was done to ascertain tear chemical content in both cases--the tears we shed in sorrow, empathy, grief, emotion, all have toxins in them that the body releases. onion tears? nope. real tears are truly a release, and good for us. it keeps us healthy. and our noses red. mine, anyways.

"a merry heart doeth good, like a medicine"--but a good cry never hurts, either!

Yes I am a crier and I don't care who sees me. We lost our daughter 5 years ago and little things will remind me of her and I will start crying. Everyone at work is used to it.

Love your quote emerald46.....and I've been a crier forever. My kids know what triggers my tears - Christmas songs, sad stories, happy stories, babies, soldiers, etc. I think it is healthy to show emotions.

I tear up more than actually cry, but it's: when I see babies being born on TV, when I read some greeting cards, when it's a touching book, TV show, movie.

Your post makes me laugh. When I try to explain to people what a "sentimental sap" I am I always say, " I cry in the middle of a Hallmark card store." And I do!

YEP.
I have done a lot lately,
I have lost 3 friends from
my group just recently.

Everybody knows when I do
because my face is all
red and whelpy for a long
time afterwards.
