There are youtubes that teach how to store grains in mylar bags with oxygen pack.

We store lots of our food this way in plastic buckets and bags.

I buy some of my stuff from this web site:

    http://beprepared.com/

when you get there do a search for mylar bags, oxygen, buckets and even food.

If you have more money this site has a better quality food pack and ready to go: http://www.efoodsdirect.com/
I also got a free Berkey from this site when I ordered one year for one person prepacked meals. Berkey is a water filter.

I did a google search for mylar and got this:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=mylar...ls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=mylar+bags+food+storage&hl=en&safe=active&client=firefox-a&hs=ain&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=ivns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=gJDWTfyRCcmutwfZtIy0Bw&ved=0CG0QrQQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=5e329e188693deb6&biw=1280&bih=889

If you have any more questions, I will be glad to help.

the comment was made on " I use 'paper clips'.. ' - referring to staples as office products.. get it.. it was a humor intended comment..

I have a pantry built to hold six months or more of stables. It's full. It's been stocked for years though.
I have saved thousands of dollars on our food budget.
I rotate and use it as my grocery store. I restock when
I'm down to two months left of any item. I have sugar, flour, canned goods, spices, tea, coffee, all non perishables.
DH said I should stock up for a year for us
and our adult kids who rarely cook much less stock
(he very knowledgeable about economics). Sam's Club here I come. It won't go to waste as I only buy items
I use or we will eat.

    Ladies,
It has to do with our economy along with the disasters and gas prices.
Our unemployment is really 20% plus, inflation, and depression. Our economy is failing and returning will take Y E A R S.
There will be food and products but few and very expensive.
Many do not want to seeing what is happening and coming.

How many times lately have you seen discontinued stock? Many things I once got at the store now need to go on line to buy.

As a Latter Day Saint we have a strong heritage of provident living and food storage is an essential part, check it out on Mormom.org. We try to spend 5$ a week on storage item tonight did a bit more as tuna was 2for 1$ and grandma Brown beans 1$ can.

With the sun out for the first of many days, we have not been able to get the garden started yet. But am gonna try to till tomorrow and see. Need to get plants and seeds in the ground. Will be growing veggies for hubby and I as well as a couple of my kids. So much cheaper to home can or freeze veggies. I don't think I will have to buy green beans for 3-4 years....lol.

I learned many years ago from LDs friends about stocking up--and it has saved us several times when times got hard.....

There is a great LDS cookbook called More with Less. I was given a copy about 25 years from
a LDS neighbor when I lived in CA.
She was so excited about the book that had just been
published. The book changed the way I bought and prepared food.
It is more then a recipe book, lots of information about food.
