Hi Marcia,
No, you aren't being nosy. I lost everything to a house fire which burned completely to the ground. It was a brand new house that I had built. My son and I had only lived in it for 2 years.
It was the beginning of several bad years and I am hoping that things will start to turn around to the positive side pretty soon.
This looked like such a friendly message board, I just felt like it was a place where I could start to build some new friendships, too.

Sondra,
Nice to meet you. Are you a member of the Wichita quilt guild?
Those girls do some great work. I belong to MOKA, a four state quilt study group. We had one of our meetings at the Art Museum in Wichita when the Sturbridge quilts were on display. The Wichita Guild had a display up at the same time. I took lots of pics. Those were wonderful quilts.

Id love to get together.
I have a great place... My new house was designed for to serve as a future quilt retreat. I have room and beds for 6 or 7 people.
Let me know if it is something you would like to persue....
Maybe Maple Leaf Festival would be a good time.
I am always looking for volunteers to help watch over the quilt show.....LOL

I'd love to participate! I don't belong to the guild here yet. I went to one meeting a couple years ago but then got a new job that kept me busy. I'd honestly forgotten all about going to another. I miss the socializing. My fiance moved here a couple months ago from Idaho and he's been wanting to go to KC, so it sounds like a roadtrip is in order when the heat goes away. It's raining this morning here, a nice gentle soaking rain. The perfect day to pull something out and stitch :) Fiance-man is in bed and probably will be most of the day. He pulled his Achilles tendon yesterday and was up all night from the pain so I expect him to snooze now that the Ibuprofen has started to work.

Well, lets start looking for a date.
I am pretty busy until after the Maple Leaf Festival (October 18, 19)
If you are interested in coming up for that weekend and helping with the quilt show, lets get together on the details. Im not sure how the board works exactly, but you can send me an email... can you get to that info?
In the mean time, we can start thinking about dates for a Quilting Board weekend.... what looks good to you.
We could do it the first or second weekend in Nov....after that the holidays start getting in the way.
What do you think?

Welcome Judy from the other side of Kansas! Glad that you have joined our happy family. This is a wonderful place to get ideas and info. Sorry to hear about your loss. Would love to see some of the quilts that you finish. We all love pictures here.
