Default new to quilting. hello everyone.

I have a jelly-roll question. I just bought my first jelly roll. It has 20 strips, 2 of each color. I want to try a borgello style quilt. Is it going to be enough or do i need to run back to joanns for a second roll?

go to moda bake shop website, I think they tell you amounts such as 2 jelly rolls equals a twins size quilt. (don't quote me here) but they can give you an estimate even though different patterns uses different amounts. at least you can get closer than guessing.

this calculator might help....

Hi, Sherry, and welcome to the QB. Is this your first quilt? If so, you might want to practice making some 9 patches with scrap fabric to make sure you like matching up all those seams and points. Finding out before you spend all that time and money on more jelly rolls would be my advice. Bargellos are all about precision.

Hi and Welcome!

I haven't made one of those quilts yet. Agree with poster above to make sure you like working with all those cuts/seams. Best wishes on your adventure into quilting. It's one of the best hobbies!

Welcome from South Louisiana. I searched for Free Bargello Quilt Patterns. This was one of the sites that came up. Hope it helps you. https://www.favequilts.com/Monthly-Q...Quilt-Patterns

This site has instructions on the first page. https://www.stitchpiecenpurl.com/bargello-quilt.htm

A question....do you have a history of using a sewing machine and matching seams? If not, you may be happier if you start with a beginner pattern, just to practice getting that 1/4 inch seam down pat and understanding the directions. Rail fence is one that comes to mind. You still have to match seams and you can use the jelly roll if you want to. Here is a page with links to free patterns. http://www.freequilt.com/railfence.html
