Hi Minda, do you own a Bernina 440 QE? I am thinking about buying one and would appreciate knowing how others like it before I make the major investment!

Hi Diane, I would be very interested to know if you think the Bernina 440 QE was worth the investment. I was told the BSR alone is $1000. I currently have a Janome 4900 and am not really pleased with it. It's the first machine I've had with a drop in bobbin and it seems like it is constantly hanging up and I have to stop and push the bobbin holder back down in the machine.

Hi Gayle, I own a Bernina 730 which I love, but several of my quilting friends own the Bernina 440 QE and are very very happy with them. I also have a Janome 6500 which is a good machine. I like my Bernina better, but I wouldn't part with any of my machines. I recommend going to a dealer and trying any machine that you are considering buying. I think it's all a matter of personal preference. (I definitely think my Bernina was worth the price I paid for it.) Good luck! :-)

I am buying the Bernina 440 QE tomorrow and the BSR comes with that model. It is $900 if you buy it separately. I am so glad to hear good things about the Bernina because I have been looking at the Janome Horizon, but no matter how much room is in the throat of the Janome I always go back to the Bernina. It's so much money...I just want to get what is the best fit for me!
