75% off Sewing Scissors-JoAnns: This Weekend!!
#31
My JoAnn's flyer mentions that "all sewing scissors" will be 50% off this weekend for the Founder's Day Sale: Fri, Aug 3-Sun, Aug 5, 2012. There is also a coupon in the flyer that says "25% off Your Total Purchase: Including regular, sale priced and clearance items." If I am reading it right, that would make your new pair of scissors 75% off.
If a customer is buying a regular price item with the 40% coupon (which is on the back of the flyer), that item won't receive an additional 25% off~~at least at my JoAnn's. The scissors are a good deal. Planning to be at JoAnn's when it opens. Along with the rest of you

No. it means extra 25% off after you take 50% off. So that means 25% X 50% (new price) = new cost
or 50% +12.5% = 62.5% off.
So, if they are $10.00, sale price is $5.00 and the extra discount makes them not $2.50, but $3.85, still not
a bad deal.

I have the best Joann's near me. The last time I was in there (and my hubby calls me 'the coupon queen' when I go there), I had 50% off Joann's coupons, 40% off Michaels, and 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon. I used them, and she handed me back the HL coupon and said she had another Joann's 50% off under the counter and proceeded to use it!! They are great there. By the way, since Micahels will only let you use one coupon at a time, Joann's will just allow one of theirs to be used at a time. Joann's also will take Hancock's coupons. Coupons at Joann's have saved me a lot of money!!!

All quilting notions will be 50% off also. My 25% off total says it cannot be used with other coupons. But, the sissor sale is not a coupon, it's a sale, which means you should get both discounts. Yes, they do take the discount off before the coupon, so it won't add up to 75% off sissors.
My JoAnn's let me use a 40% off one item and 50% of one fabric cut. 2 coupons. I got a new mat and some fabric too.

I used to work there. Each store manager handles differently some times. When it says "includes sale priced items" when it is their markdown (not coupon) they are supposed to honor it. That fine print refers to coupon or "discount" as in Teacher Savings Card etc. If they don't give you the discount ask to see a mgr.
My coupon reads "Includes regular, sale-priced & clearance items"
Then, down in the finer print, it says,
"Cannot be combined with any other discount or coupon."
The way the JoAnn's in my city handles it is they take the 25% off of all items, but not the coupon items. Ugh!

Former employee and thread starter here: your comment "As I understand it their cash registers are set up to deduct the extra 20%-25% coupon off every thing but not those coupons that were rung up on the register. " - that is correct. They are not supposed to be using another discount on your coupon. That is why I watch for their discounts, to which these apply. Also, if you have the 10% VIP card from your quilt guild (register online) you can use that %10 off when they mark something down too - like if you did not have the coupon.
I'm not trying to be a bugger here, but check your receipts when you get into your car (if you can understand them~~I find them very confusing!). As I understand it their cash registers are set up to deduct the extra 20%-25% coupon off every thing but not those coupons that were rung up on the register.
As to how I found that out, one time I made a large amount of purchases and figured I would be spending about such and such... The actual total kind of blew my mind so I checked the receipt (and did the math in my car) and walked back to the checkout clerk where it was explained to me that the total purhase coupon did not take off an additional percentage of those items purchased with a coupon. That is when I decided to shop a little more carefully and to read the fine print.
Maybe all JoAnn's don't have the new registers.

Regarding: "I'll bet JoAnn's won't let you use both coupons on one purchase"
To clarify, it is not 2 coupons. They are discounting all sewing scissors in the store 50% to anyone who walks in the door. If you have that coupon, it will take an additional 25% off the discounted (not orig) price. You are only presenting 1 coupon to the cashier.
