That is a wonderful price. I bought the TL2010qi from Jet.com a few months ago and paid $840 --free shipping-no tax and was thrilled with the price and even more pleased with this wonderful workhorse of a machine. Congrats and ENJOY!

By the way, I turned around and bought a box of 100 bobbins for it on Ebay for about 20.00 --I think it was 15.00 and 5.00 shipping. I will never be short of bobbins again--what a luxury!

As for the bobbins, I'm interested to know what you bought. For that price, I'm guessing they aren't made by Juki ? I ask only because I've seen a few things online that lead me to believe that non-Juki bobbins often don't work well in these machines. I'd love to know which bobbins you bought.

I have the 98TL and the 2000qi. Paid 600. new for the 98 and 719. new for the 2000. Both are Excellent work horses! My 98 is 9-10 yrs. old and as good as new. the 2000qi (2 yrs. old) is working just as good. I too purchased the box of 100 bobbins, can't recall what I paid, but it was cheap. I also purchased some different universal feet for my machines, and never had a problem. Been using them on both machines and no problems at all. Both have been used for quilts, leather, bag making, and much more. I LOVE both of them! You got a good deal! Congrats, enjoy!

Yes, I am so pleased with it. Always so good to feel like you've gotten a good deal on something expensive that you really want. Katsewnsew I'm hoping to try FMQ -- one of the reasons I wanted this machine -- so I'm glad you like it for that.

Any idea which ebay bobbin seller might be worth a shot? I see a number of different sellers offering 20- and 100-bobbin lots that supposedly fit this machine. I'm guessing some are better than others, but have no clue how to identify the "good" ones.

You are gonna love this machine! I paid $ 170 more for mine about a year and a half ago. No, the speed will not be too much for you because there is a lever on the side with a turtle and a rabbit that you use to set the speed faster or slower. Set it on turtle speed until you get used to it. What I don't like is the foot pedal. If you lean your heal back on it, it automatically cuts the thread. Its supposed to be something you get used to, but I never did. I found that if I turn/use the foot pedal backwards this does not happen. What I love- that NO other machine has- is a 1/5th" presser foot. It comes with the machine and its normal for us to gravitate to the quarter inch foot but don't overlook the 1/5" presser foot. It comes with the machine at no extra charge. It gives you a scant quarter inch seam which gives you that few threads difference when piecing blocks, so they come out to the exact size every time. I called Juki, and researched the internet to see if this foot is available for any other machine and its not. I even checked for one for my other Juki machine and its not made. Even a Juki dealer I spoke with said she is a long time quilter and owner of a 2010, and she didn't know about this foot! Be sure to read your manual and keep it handy, and there are tutorials online about threading this machine. Also be sure to read and follow the instructions about oiling your machine. Its a 'commercial' machine and you need to oil it regularly to keep it running in tip top shape. My other Juki does not require oiling. Besides my antique machines I have a Brother, a Singer, and a Juki Exceed HZL F300. I use my 2010 most. There is an excellent YouTube tutorial by Leah Day, "How to clean and oil your home sewing machine." Her machine is a Juki 2010 so I highly recommend you watch her video. You made a great choice and got a really good deal.

JustJan, thank you for all the information and good wishes. I will be checking out all your suggestions. I saw that the machine comes with the 1/5" foot and wondered about whether it might work like a scant 1/4" -- you answered that question for me. Sounds like you got a great deal on the 2010 (mine is "just" the 2000 model and doesn't have the bunny/tortoise speed moderator, so I'll have to get along without it!).
