http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...-the-air-3.pdf This should be the paper piecing PDF file. Just use your HST blocks as step 1 and 2 and then do 3, 4 and 5. It works! I cut up some triangles using my Accuquilt die cut for the blue.

It's getting interesting. Glad to see we're working with blue this week. Guess what? I've got a head start on the cutting. I accidentally cut too many of the 3-1/2 inch blue strips so I set them aside hoping we'd use them. But I need to starch my neutrals. Did that for clue 3 and it really helped. Wish I'd done it for clue 2. Off to work now but I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

Made about 10 using the regular piecing method, per Bonnie. Came out spot on. I've always disliked triangles so I count this as a triumph. Cathie, using the method you sited would the neutral block measure 2 x 2.75? Seems like using this method would make it go faster since you are making two halves at the same time.

i like this process but I don't know how to do it with when you have to use a HST

I too used Bonnie's method but did sew toward the first seam with the second wing. When sewing the two halves together, I squared up the corner and held it in place with a clover clip. I matched the pieced block up to the triangle and eased if necessary to keep the pieced triangle matching the solid triangle. I haven't lost a point and only needed to trim those "ears". It takes me a little time but I really like the results especially when assembly starts.

Perfect! Yeah! This is the first block I feel comfortable with and like the results. I cut my blue triangles with the Accuquilt die and my neutral with the Accuquilt die. This one is for the design wall so I make sure I do them right. Right now, more coffee and then sewing. Still have to sew clue 4! Hugs! Debbie

Gardnergal: I think you just use the half square triangle as if it is just a solid block. Make a modified four patch with the HST at opposite corners with the yellow turned toward the center. The neutral should be over sized so you have room to make your double seam in the middle. My problem is I don't know how much bigger that neutral block should me. I think I will make an experiment using 2.5 X 2 and see how it works out. I will let you know as soon as I have a result.
