Smile Wonder if they'll change Elmers?

This story was in our local paper in Columbus OH yesterday. It may not mean anything but let's hope they don't decide to try to "improve" what we love!

Bet there will be a run on Elmer's glue. I just ordered some to be on the safe side. Thanks for the notice.

Well going to WAlmart after while. Have never been able to find the tips everyone talks about for the easy fine applications. Hate ordering anything online.

I just found the bottle with a metal tip at Rockler's in Arlington, TX. You can google them and order. They are a wood shop supply company. I paid $4.99 and you can get additional tips that are plastic of different sizes, I think their are 6 sizes in the package for another $4.99.

I also found out that glue only has a 2 year shelf life, so be careful on stocking up.

Metal and glue do not go together. It will get all yucky. The tips I found at craft stores are not thin enough. I bought Roxanne's Basting Glue with the long thin tip and just use that for when I want a thin line. I use Elmer's for basting my quilt tops. I used a bottle of Elmer's washable School Glue I had for over five years and it worked just fine. It was never opened.

If you look at the Roxanne's basting glue tip, it's metal. I have been using glue with metal tops for furniture refinishing and have never had a problem. Regarding the 2 year shelf life, that is after it's opened and it still may be O K, but if you are doing furniture and want to be sure it will hold, you use new glue. I have used some Elmer's glue that was over 2 years old and it still worked on fabric, but I have also seen glue go almost to water with age. Google shelf life of glue and see what the experts say.
