I look for sales and coupons. you can find better prices on older fabric lines too( like last year's line). I rarely pay $13.00 a yard. i just wait. i like to support my local quilt shop but I shop on line too. For example, Hancock's of Paducah has name brands and always has sales. I check them often. I also stock up when I go to Paducah for the quilt show.

This is primarily for my Canadian friends. I, too, find the prices of fabric very high in Canada so I order online from US sites. I have the fabric shipped to my nearest UPs store or equivalent and then drive down to pick it up. Since fabric manufactured in the US is covered by the free-trade agreement, we only have to pay our pst. and gst or hst, whichever you have. Even though the exchange rate is terrible for us right now, I still find it less expensive and the choice is fantastic. I would prefer to shop Canada but in the end, my budget has to win out.
