You could add several pale pink or yellow hearts to the back in random places. Or you could just mend the hole as discretely as possible and let it be part of the history of the quilt.

I must say I did not get as much as a thrill repairing this quilt as I do making my own...think I may stick with making my own quilts. The quilt is beautiful, but its just not the same. My husband could not believe someone would get rid of it...I told him it was slightly worn and it could have been from the person who made it. After I finished adding a few whitle hearts, fixed a few appliques that were loose from washing and then the binding...he was like...WOW, it looks brand new. It is very pretty, but white...and one of my cats laid on it for a few mins...and left a bunch of fur. Nope...it can not stay here.

You can use a heart shape and make it your label with the info as to how it came to be yours.

If it were mine, I would just cover the hole with a butterfly appliqué made in pastels to match the quilt. That way it would not detract from the original artwork mad becomes a part of it. You could even make it match the binding you intend to use for cohesiveness.

If you choose to use the heart or butterfly ideas, perhaps you could scatter a few more than just the one.

I like this idea!

Applique or embroidery should take care of it.
