I think the key to your problem is having her select the fabrics that "she" likes and thinks are "grown up" enough for her. The pattern won't be so critical then....

Never thought of that..Just not very experienced quilter so don't want to get in over my head and get discouraged and not get the quilt finished for her. I have some great starting off points from the wonderful people on here so hopefully we can narrow it down this week and start on it..plan is to have it done by the time we get the room finished for her.. right now it's just studs and insulation so I'm hoping i have plenty of time.

A nine patch or 4 opatch would be an easy and fast quilt.

You could choose almost any fairly simple pattern. Just let her pick out the fabrics she likes.

So I need an easier two or 3 color quilt pattern for a "young lady"..any suggestions, way to many beautiful quilts on here for me to narrrow down with suggestions for her.
I remember seeing a black and white big block (different sizes) quilt with yellow in in - have been wanted to make it. If I find the link I will send it to you. You could put hot pink in it instead of the yellow.

Try to involve her in all aspects of making the quilt for her. Who knows, she may be the next generation quilter. Wouldn't that be wonderful to share with her as you both get older?

She's already interested in quilting. So i bet she would like to be more involved, just don't feel like I could teach her as I go with a new pattern. I'm going to try to let her help on her own quilt. Think it will make it even more special to her just hope I don't pull all my hair out in the process.
