Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts had a pattern using HST and as I recall, they were all on the dark side. http://www.amazon.com/dp/0981804098/...l_6fd8ayr4fl_b
Okay, I found her book and the HST quilt is on the front. Interesting layout.
Also found this one at Connecting Threads.

In either case, the placement is interesting and I think a scrappy would be great in either layout. Just choose the lighter side of each HST when you lay out your pieces.
Hope this helps.

Have you checked the exploding star pattern? You use dark/dark, white /white and dark/white makes a beautiful quilt.
So I was sewing with reckless abandon making half square triangles using up scraps. Now I have about 50 hst which is OK but when I made them, they are totally scrappy. Meaning two colors in each each block. Since brain was not engaged did not sew light to dark or white to color. No idea how to use these. Did a google search and didn't find a pic using similiar blocks. All those quilts have light to dark or white to color
Any suggestions how to tame down these blocks? Maybe I'll just make a dog quilt for Linda's new dog....
