HIP! HIP! HOORAY!
I put my feeder out Thursday afternoon and I saw my first
hummer this morning too. (Friday).
So they must be on their way!
We probably have 30-40 hummers around here.
I have shrubs and perennials planted for them as well. :-)

I just talked to my cousin and she said shes only seen a couple of "scouts" so far but one came and kept pecking on her kitchen window as if to say WHERE is my food?? :) She can go outside and sit real still and they will land on her shoulders and arms. The lst time I saw ALL of them it was kind of scary because the food is on the deck you have to walk up to get to the front door and they were making a really loud buzzing and fighting over the feeders. She ONLY has ten big feeders! :) She also feeds the orioles but there aren't near as many of them! Thanks for all the wonderful posts about these lovely creatures!

My husband and I we feed the hummingbirds all summer long but we never have more than a dozen. Would love to see a hundred of them.

We had territorial hummingbirds in Colorado - rufus- and they would dive bomb others to stay away from their feeder. So we had some on different sides of the house. One night I forgot to take one in from the deck. I woke up when I heard glass breaking. On our deck was a baby bear licking up the sweet liquid. I thought he was so cute I would get a photo. Then my brain turned on and reminded me that since he was so young his Momma was probaboy very close by. She would not appreciate flashes. So I did get a long shot through the door. Anyway our mailboxes were all in a group about a mile down the mountain and I saw a note on the bulletin board about a mother bear and cub sited in our neighbors yard last night. It said it was odd to see only one cub so I added to it and said I knew where the other one was! :)

I got my juice ready, but afraid to put it out as it may freeze tonight. I thought we had spring, but it sure is cold and windy today.

LOL our neighbor spent several hundred dollars a few years ago buying everything he could think of to attract hummingbirds and they took up residence in our mimosa tree. He was as mad as a hornet at us?!?! Like we sent them an invitation or something. I think he gave up after that. LOL. They are fun little things though.

She must be thrilled! Hummingbirds are so fascinating to watch! Bless her for taking care of them! She gets her reward for doing so! :-D

I love hummingbirds. Would love to have feeders, but we are in a neighborhood of cats and I would really be upset if the cats got to them.
