I searched Marines here on the board and saw a lot of those colors is why I thought that. I am hoping to find one of those pillow panels now that I have seen them on the other quilts. Would make my life muchhhhhhh easier. Smiles

I don't know, that is just what one site said when I googled.

Go to http://images.google.com

Enter "marine logo"

You'll find lots of ideas and examples.

I can't help but wonder if there are some returning vets who would prefer NOT to be reminded of their time over there, and would appreciate something entirely different.

What have you made for a returning vet that is of a non-patriotic theme? And can anyone recommend a quilt-donation-coordinating organization that doesn't require a particular theme?
My soldier while deployed prefers themes related to home. Not patriotic. Not camouflage. Not military. If you contact a drop off point directly, rather than going through the existing organizations, you should be able to do themes other than patriotic. Also if you ever donate to Afghan locals overseas, no red, white and blue.

Or, you could ask if you can do military blocks in colors other than red, white and blue. Not the best solution but it might be an option. Good luck.

Many thanks for the info. I sure needed it. I want to try this as soon as I finish my Grandchildrens quilts.

Over here we tend to do our own thing and choose our own patterns. So far our quilt group has made four quilts at Saturday wroskhops, and the quickest pattern we have found is Roman Stripe, and we do it in whatever colour fabrics are donated by the members. We can cut, piece and quilt as we go and usually manage to finish a single quilt in a day. Of course the design made up of the blocks is dictated by the colours of the fabrics.
