I love the binding part..love pinning and getting everything snugged up. Sitting in my big rocker with the quilt all around me, knowing it a short while it will be done, it really is my favorite part. So relaxing!

I really enjoy it now that I believe I do a great job of it. The ladder stitch changed increased my speed & I can use any color thread and it does NOT show. Google for how to. Also the Sharon Schamber video sows how to glue and press the binding so pins are not needed. I did this just prior to learning the ladder stitch.
Practice even with binding improves our skills. Improved skills add to the enjoyment for me.

a quilting friend of mine suggested to me (because I always grumble about binding) that its because I don't want the project to end - so I keep this in mind when I start and it seems to go faster!!!!! plus when I am doing it I am planning the next quilt

Not my favorite part, however...a very smart little girl commented that doing the binding should make you happy because it means that you're almost done with the quilt.

There is truth to that statement.

Any get in the mood to bind advice out there?
I"m good right up until it comes to the hand stitching of the binding. I have only done one machine stitched binding and didn't really like it that much, so, now I'm back to hand stitching it on the back. It seems to take forever to do, and I just keep thinking that I could be creating another quilt on my machine. But once I get at it, I do take great satisfaction in finishing it.

I posted a wail about binding a couple of weeks ago. My main stress was getting the final join neat and tidy. People on here came up with some fantastic resources, and I've found one that worked for me. Once that join is made, I enjoy the hand sewing - the feel and weight of the quilt and seeing the finished result slowly appearing as I sew are so satisfying.

You would think the binding would be great to do because the quilt is finished. But for some reason I don't like to do bindings either.
