Didn't realize some many had the same feeling as me. Can't get comfortable sewing with shoes on... Must feel the pedal it helps my control, also....

Barefoot until it gets too cold, then I wear socks, but never shoes. I can't feel the foot control with shoes on. When I go to retreats, there are a lot of ladies who sew without shoes.

Living in Phoenix, AZ...... Cold feet usually is not an issue. I do have a slipper on my left foot, take off the right one....but keep it handy so I can slip it on when I get up from my machine. You are so right about the feel of the foot pedal on you shoeless foot.

socks definitely, I agree. It helps me judge the speed of the foot pedal.

After reading all the replies, I feel as if I'm the only one who quilts with either slippers or her shoes on, but then I'm not a fan of going barefoot. I say do whatever floats your boat and makes it easier for you to quilt.

I wear shoes or house shoes but many of my friends sew bare foot. How about those funny shoes Dr. Oz wears? They have individual toes, just like your feet and they are very soft. Many of my friends wear them in the pool at the Y. Perhaps they would work. Hope you find something that feels natural and doesn't disturb your sewing.

Yep! Me too. Shoes only when I have to.

I love to sew barefooted, but for the second time I have gotten a needle tip stuck in my foot. That is why I may have to change. When I change it will be to just socks, though!
