Default Am I the only one?

I am just starting to quilt again after several years. One of the things I love about it is that I can create beautiful things in my own home without having to deal with a lot of people. I know that sounds antisocial, but I am an introvert and need my quiet time (I teach for a living.). I have no desire to join a club or a guild or take a class (other than online at my own pace). I enjoy this forum very much, though. I get great ideas here, and I love seeing other's projects. Are there other lone (and happy to be that way) quilters out there, or is it just me?

Raising my hand. I'm with you on this one. We can all enjoy quilting in the way that suits us best.

As a fellow introvert, I'm pretty much with you. I'm basically just not a joiner and tend to work alone. I keep thinking I'll visit the guild here in town where I know several members but just never have. I also like this forum, get great ideas and help here, and enjoy looking at everyone's projects. Actually, this kind of board is perfect for introverts. ;-)

Nope, I'm a lone quilter, too. I'm around too many people all day so I look forward my alone time with my sewing machine!

I'm an educator also and I know what you mean. I'm not an introvert, but aside from the occasional class at my LQS I'm happy with Craftsy classes, have no desire to join any groups, I have several local places that welcome donated quilts and pet beds, and look forward to summer sewing retreats with just my sister and me. The best thing about quilting is there are ways and activities to accommodate everyone's likes and need!

Thanks everyone--it's nice to know that others also feel this way.

I sometimes have to travel and do a lot of talking and answering questions in presentations... when I get home .. I don't even want to answer the phone... I just don't want to have to say any words. I do get more social when I have not "had" to talk. For me, quilting has always been a solitary activity.
