I can't afford to spend much more than 150 bucks. I love my simple little singer. It works really well. Just kind of want a little upgrade but still nothing too advanced. This machine has a bunch of great reviews. Thanks!

I have one that is very similiar and I think it sews well, I just use my more expensive ones more.

Have you looked into re-conditioned machines or trade-ins? Your local quilt shop or sewing machine dealer may have some. Thrift stores sometimes have great buys on machines. They may not be pretty, but as long as they work well.

I started out with a Brother machine from Wal-mart and was really pleased with it. I sewed on it for about 4 years and last year hubby let me buy a new Baby Loc Quilter's Dream sewing machine so I gave the Brother to my daughter. It was very versatile and accurate and I thought was a great bang for the buck Good luck!

Have you looked at the Kenmores at Sears? Mine was the exact same as Janome's, and has been great.

I have this machine. I don't use it much now because I got the Brother SQ-9000. I have never had a problem with it. I really like it. Last time I checked Overstock had them too.

Do look at a used machine. Check the area dealers or the local sew & vac. They have great models often come with a warenty. I would spend the $ on a good used machine that you can get serviced from where you purchased. The newer machines at the lower end of the price specturm have alot of plastic parts that do not hold up over time. There really are lots of really great used machines that get turned in when an owner wants to upgrade.
No matter what you choose ...test drive the machine. Bring fabric/batting that you would be using and take it for a "spin".
I still have a used machine bought for 50 dollars over 35 years ago .. it has all metal parts... some special stiches and just will not quit.
