Thanks everyone. I'll have to do the zigzag over a thread method I think, since I dont have a foot for gathering, and I can't afford one right now. My little Brother machine is too simple to have anything fancy like that!! LOL

I use the gathering foot on my Baby Lock, but in the past when I did this I always lengthen the stitch on the basing line or zig-zag to make it easier to pull up.

good point, if you do this, it will be much easier.
