Great big thanks to all who were so gracious and helpful with this thread. I googled tutorials on needle turn applique techiques and came upon the one with the "cheater" method of needleturn. It uses the non adhesive interfacing instead of the adhesive type that I had been using. I'll be out and about tomorrow (dr's appt) so will stop in at the LQS to get a supply so I can get started with my letters. This board is the greatest! Special thanks to QM, katier825, Teacup,QuiltnNan, and Tartan for your input. Happy quilting, Y'all.

I bought a set of cardboard letters at the DOLLAR TREE they were in school or teachers area and 4 inches. I put stitch witchery on fabric and turned the cardboard templates backwards of the fabric...traced with a pencil cut them out and ironed them on my top where I wanted them. Then I stitched with a satin stitch all around them...here's an applique quilt for a special little boy that I made earlier this year

Gail, I am not sure if you found what you are looking for..but I have used this site multiple times, the patterns are free and great..and you can enlarge when you print to get the size you need. I generally do fusible applique and use a satin stitch. Patterns are already reversed to this method too.

    Hope this helps!
