I actually put a light weight interfacing on my minky before I use it now. it stops the shifting and stretching issues.

I think it depends on how it will be used.. silly point I know. But so often a quilt or a blanket is put on the floor to lay a baby on. If it was like that I would put batting in and the minky... just for extra softness. But in a crib that might be too much weight.. sometimes though a heavy blanket is nice so the baby can't kick it off as they toss and turn. It just all depends on what you want.

I've only done minkee backing on one baby quilt and am planning a 2nd quilt (targeting January). I use cotton batting think it was warm and natural) and am planning on cotton batting in this other one. Houston area and no it's not usually cold here but got feedback from the dad of the first one and he liked it. they draped it over the baby in her car seat(made it a good size) and she used it as a pallet. I warned all I made with fleece that it might be hot so watch the kiddo!
