Bernina 440 quilter's version BSR no red light boo hoo
#1
Just been trying out my new machine. My BSR red light does not seem to come on.. Have lowered feeddogs, put pressed foot down. Done the BSR button and used on off button to sew. Shows up as blinking BSR on screen, but no red light of sweet little man. What am I not doing. Going to aclass for beginners on Saturday but any tips welcome. Read both instruction books!!!

I believe if BSR is blinking on the screen you haven't engaged it yet by pushing the BSR button and selecting BSR1 or BSR2.
I can't say for sure about the start/stop button because I never use it. When I'm getting ready to use the BSR I lower the feed dogs, turn down my presser foot pressure, plug the BSR in and press the BSR button once. That sets it on BSR1 which will sew only when I press down on the foot pedal.
Good luck learning your machine! It doesn't take too long with regular use to figure it all out. :)

Oh posted too soon, sorry. This iPhone does this!! I love that quilt. Is it an art quilt. I am a virgin quilter really only interested in small wall hangings and maybe a baby quilt. Pictures from my own paintings. Have you done many courses. ?

Thanks, it's a paper pieced pattern from Eileen Sullivan.

I have a 440 with BSR. I have done quite a bit of machine quilting with BSR 1 (with the foot pedal). If you happen to be on BSR 2, make sure you have detached the foot pedal from your machine - BSR 2 does't work if the foot pedal is attached.
