How about a circle in the center of each "flower" with petals in each of the surrounding hexagons. Then, a swirly fill design in the light background around the flower garden. For the borders in the upper part, feathers might work, or you could use the same fill you used in the background. At the bottom, a cloud-like design around the sides and top background with a spiky, grass-type design within the applique section.

In the open white space next to the farm scene is where I would have to dwell on it for quite a while. I do like the idea of clouds and fields of grass and maybe even a quilted tree or two. But I also like the idea of background fill to really make the bridge scene pop. That lower section really opens up to some fancy quilting but not traditional quilting. Maybe if I did a flower motif in the GMFG I would carry some if it down into that area as well. feathers, even victorian style feathers would look good too, especially if they were also in the peach outer border of the top section. So many possiblilites in that area. Even just echoing around the flower and echo around the bridge area until the two echos meet and then some cool echo fill.

In the white area I would maybe put a few "hidden" items as they are part of the scene and then use the same filler background to bring it all together and make the applique pop out. I like the feathers in the border yellow strip as well. I would take on the job...but Feline would be good as well.
