When I needed a new iron, I purchased and returned 3. One didn't get hot enough. One had a funny cord that dragged over the shirts and a teflon bottom that didn't leave a nice crisp surface, and one had a burr on the sole plate. In desperation I asked at quilting group - "T-fall" was the answer. I've had it for 3 years and it does the job.

I bought a black and decker from Wamart. I wanted an iron that wouldn't shut of on me. I love it except there is no way to turn off the steam. So that is one thing to look for.

I won't ever buy another Rowenta. Mine started overheating. I got a great iron at a yardsale!

Love my Rowenta too! Just replaced mine after 15years of hard work. I bought the Rowenta Focus when JoAnns had them half price in Dec. $60 instead of $130 actually more than half off.
