Wal-mart has these bobbin winders for $26 plus change. They are a lot more expensive on the internet, plus they charge postage. Just to to the nearest Wal-Mart.

I have a bobbin winder and would not be without it. It does have a tendency to pop up at first but just put my finger on it lightly. Be sure to start the thread for winding spred out so it doesn't want to wind more in one place. I am lazy and like others said, I wind all the bobbins I need (colors) before I start something and do not have to interupt myself so often.

It might be because you don't spread the thread out on the spool evenly when you first start.

I haven't been impressed with mine -- it's very lightweight and seems "delicate". Fortunately, I got a great deal on it so am not out many $$. However, after all the positive comments here, I suppose I should spend some more time with it -- especially after reading the suggestion to put batteries in it to weigh it down (thanks!),

I love mine. You do need to tend it to evenly wind, but mine seems to wind tightly.

I have one which I use on MOST bobbins, however for my embroidery and quilt machines I find it does not wind tight enough and use the built in bobbin winders on the machines. However, I would not be with out it for some of my other machines since I HATE having to unthread machines to wind bobbins. The sidewinder does not work on the bobbins that Singer makes for in machine bobbin winding I also think that it winds better from small spools of thread, and weak batteries wont do the job.
