My advice - just don't buy too many prints. I have far too many focus fabrics and should have bought more marbles, tone on tones and small prints that read more solid for blenders. Many of my prints will never end up in the same quilt so it means there are the beginnings of many, many quilts in my stash and I'll run out of the co-ordinating plainer fabrics long before those prints (some are now looking dated) are stitched up into quilts. If you're buying for the future, buy the prints sparingly!

I usually buy a yard - I have gone so far as to buy 3 or even 6 yards at a time, but those huge chunks are still sitting in my stash unused. Unless it's something I know I will use in lots of projects one yard is usually enough for me.
