I got a question. When you quilters are out and about, and happen to see fabric you want to add to your stash, how much do you buy? 1 yard, 2 yards, 3 yards, half a yard?

Depends on the fabric...sometimes I buy 3 yards...generally at least 1 yd but mainly 2 yds.

I usually buy 2 yards of blender fabrics unless it is one that I know I will use a lot, then maybe 3-4 yds.

If it is a print/focal fabric that I am absolutely in love with, I will buy 3-5 yds.

Any more, I tend to stick to blenders for just stash collecting, and I am getting more picky on the prints I get. This is subject to change... as two years ago I bought more prints than blenders ROFLMBO :D:D:D

If you like it - 1 yard
If you love it - 2-3 yards
If you cant live without it- Buy the bolt..

If it has potential for a backing, then I get either 5 1/2 yards or 7 yards. Generally, 1 yard for the odd pieces, 2 yards if it strikes my fancy, 3 yards if I love it, a whole bunch if it's end-of-bolt. Then you have to add on to the house when the cabinets bulge out. lol

Thanks for the question.

If the price is right - and I like it - I buy 2 yards to build the stash.

I usually buy 1 yard. So I have a closet of 1 yard cuts. As I'm actually making stuff, I keep finding I need more than 1 yard, especially for borders, and my stuff is too short. So in hindsight, I would have done more 2 yard cuts
