Also remember that you can do anything you want! Maybe some flying geese or four, six, or nine patches to fill in for the smaller/narrower Ts. Anything goes!! Have fun and please let us see the finished product!!

My question is - why can't you do three rows, lenghtwise and then put the three together. As long as they are the same length, why wouldn't that work?

There are tutorials on the board for doing this exact project. Take the time to read them before you do any more cutting. If you get those t-shirts stabilized, making the quilt will be Sooo much easier. If you find yourself with different size squares, just add wider borders to some, then rearrange them until you are happy, then sew your heart out! Good luck, and hugs for your new project.

Don't think to hard on it! That is my mistake! I try to hard and my brain won't function on something simple! lol
I totally agree. Analysis is paralysis!

Here is one my sister made that had odd shaped pieces. It was the 3rd quilt she had made. She did a really nice job by just laying out the pieces and figuring how big the "in between" strips needed to be. Be sure and stabilize the fabrics before sewing.

This is what I tried to say. Don't forget to post your quilt. I can't wait.

I saw on Simply Quilts that when this problem arises that it is perfectly acceptable to make a border around the smaller blocks to make them the same size as the rest of the blocks. Just make sure it is the same material and prewashed. Do you think maybe there was enough material in the backs of her shirts to use? If not maybe you can sacrifice one of yours or dads t shirts to bring all the blocks to the correct size.. Hope this helps you.

Here's a How-To link I did years ago...I have a picture of one of my t-shirt quilts on it. As you can see, my t-shirts were different sizes, and I adjusted the sashing according to my needs.

Some people don't use sashing...it's a matter of preference.
