I agree with shnnn, when you have bias edges it is very easy to stretch when you sew. My daughter had the same problem recently with a block she was making. After I noticed what she was doing she did fine. Beautiful block, it may be one of my next block to try.

In regards to the puckering on the half triangles.....have you tried a different method? If I have to make a 1/2 triangle square... I usually sew two squares diagonally..... you just have to cut the squares a bit larger... for example... if you want a 2 1/2 inch block...cut the two squares 2 7/8... draw a pencil line diagonally on the back...then sew 1/4 inch on either side of the line...cut on the line and press...you then have two half square triangles and no puckering..... You have made a beautiful block...love to see the finished quilt...

Also, how do you cut down on bulk on the back where the seams all meet? There are like big nubs back there. I'm going to try to post a picture but it's my first time trying that too so I hope it comes out. Thanks so much!

here is a handy hint that i have used. if the seam is too bulky and you can't press it flat, get a hammer!! i mean it, it works. lay it on a flat surface with a pressing cloth to keep it clean on both sides and give it a bang! i just had to do that to a rising star that i couldn't get the bulk out of.
