Jordan Fabrics has a free pattern called Ribbons Quilt that uses 1 layer cake. I'm sewing it right now and I'll attach the photos of what I have done so far. I"m putting the binding on it right now or I could take a photo of the finished quilt. Jordan Fabrics has a tutorial to make this quilt as well. The tutorial really adds to the pattern.

I made a king size Quatrefoil from Missouri Star with one layer cake and extra yardage. You could certainly do it with 2 layer cakes plus background. I’m attaching a pic of one block. I love your layer cakes. Good luck and post pics when you do get your tops done.

I can't answer your question.

However I do like all the above quilt pictures.

I bet MSQ would exchange or refund money if the layer cakes are not to your liking for a quilt. Also, if you don't find one of Jenny's patterns for the layer cake (or the charm squares) their customer service is great. Call them and have them suggest patterns for the items you have bought. I used one of their layer cakes for a tote bag and there was almost no waste from the angles I had to cut. I am also doing a stained glass one of theirs and it also has very little waste. They are very customer oriented.

My goodness, I'm having so much fun looking. These are a lot of good links with great ideas.
I did start yesterday, with my Roses on The Vines charm pack. I'm not exactly thrilled with the look yet, maybe when I get more patches made and move them around a bit. I got five 16 inch blocks made so far. You actually use four smaller 8in to make a 16 inblock, so it's 20 smaller 8 inch so far. I love the one someone on QB made but I also love the fabric she used and her quilting. That was my inspiration to try. It was fatsewcat's post last one for the season.

I still have to decide a pattern for the Cottage Joy fabrics. Thank you for all your help and please add more if you can. I can think about it and plan while I'm taking breaks, making this one.

Many of these can be done with layer cakes. They are all free. If you click on a picture, the pdf file (pattern/instructions) will automatically download to your computer. (Scroll down- there are Lots):
