An idea for a dish drainer that is not sewing related, I use a dish drainer in my pot cupboard to hold lids. It takes up less space on a pull out shelf than all those loose lids did.
There is another kitchen item that has not been mentioned. One of those dish drainers that have the straight up posts. If you are a machine embroiderer, you can use one of these to line up your different colors of thread. It works very well and you don't have thread rolling all over the place.

I'm a little late reading this! If no one else has mentioned it, there are great patterns for coffee can organizers. I made a couple that use screen wire for the pockets and they really are wonderful. The only problem is that now most of the coffee cans are plastic and it's hard to find tin ones!

I found an old metal LP record holder at a garage sale---I think they used to be called a record worm---and I use it for my large rulers. Then, at another garage sale I found a desk size one for letters and I use it for the smaller rulers. I'm a member of a Marti & Me club at Threads of Time (my fave LQS) and needed something for all the templates and patterns. At our local Office Depot I found a file satchel clearanced for only $4. It works great! It holds the templates, the books, that patterns and it carries like a large purse.

Love the noodle idea and alphabet beads... not heard of these before... good thinking
I use eye glass holders to store my rotary cutters, pick them up @ goodwill. Use tbe foam swimming noodles for binding, cut in 8" lengths w/ serrated knife, easy to roll a lot of bindung on& can stick pins in it. Make row markers w/ safety pins & alphabet beads row a, b, c, etc. To mark rows when putting quilt tog.

Take a tall container like an oatmeal container. Make a fabric sleeve to fit the outside of it snugly, long enough to extend past the top. Tuck the top down inside of it. Put a glass jar inside of it. Put long stemmed silk flowers or fresh flowers in your custom "vase". Coordinate fabric to the decor in a friend's home and give as a gift.Especially nice as a way to give flowers from your garden.

I save the empty "Breath Savers 3- Hour mint round boxes for my used Offa blades. I use the old blades for ripping out seams, they are still sharp enough for that.
Also I get fresh spinach in the clear boxes and then use them for odds & ends of sewing threads, bias tape, laces scraps for small quilting items or anything that need to be kept together.

I repurpose the square tissue boxes and have one on my sewing table for threads and snips.
I repurpose Altoids container for old needles.
When we have a sew-in we often use coffee filters for our threads and snips so it easier at cleanup time.
Have also used NEW pizza boxes for sorting strips ... and some carefully washed take out containgers.
Looking fwd to hearing more.

I have 3 5gal pails under my cutting table. One for 2-1/2" squares, one for 4-1/2" squares, and one for strips.
I use the gallon size clear plastic containers that pretzels and snack mix come in for zippers for flower projects, one for special Christmas squares, one for ribbons for wine bags.
Pencil case to carry scissors, thread, ripper, etc to guild.
