Cotton/Poly Gingham - What do you do with it?

My aunt made a quilt of out hand-stamped embroidered blocks - all cotton - and sashed with poly/cotton fabric which included gingham and I now own it - THRILLED - as she passed away - it is on my bed at all times and gets washed several times a year and it is still in perfect shape. There is some pilling on the backing - but don't really know what it is - just white fabric.

I would definitely keep it and use it. As well as quilts, gingham makes great placemats (quilted of course) and aprons. I am doing a string quilt using all kinds of scrappy strings, including some cut up clothes belonging to my stepson's fiance (the quilt will be for her), some of it is poly cotton gingham....in it goes...I am stitching to a foundation and so far it's looking pretty good.

I am cleaning and reorganizing my sewing room. I came across this bundle of cotton/poly gingham and I don't know what to do with it! I have several yards of the different colors. I am at a loss as to whether I should keep it or not. What do you use cotton/poly gingham for?
I'm not a purist so if the checks look good with something else I had, I'd use them Or just find a fairly simple pattern to use all the checks on.
How about the checks for the body of pillow cases and then add prints that match as the borders.

I use gingham on all of my appliqued baby quilts. One of my GD just brought me the first quilt I made for her when she graduated to a big girl bed 15 years ago. The gingham is still in great shape but the 100% cotton applique needs to be replaced.

make children's quilts and don't worry about it being poly/cotton unless someone else doesn't like them.
The wear like iron cloth, wash up beautifully and snuggle comfortably.....
I have an old directions where the checked poly/cotton was made with just two layers of fabri with batting, edge finished in prairie points, and then turned and tied. It's almost a one day quilt and oh so comfortable and usable
I even published one in a magazine many years ago

I made many baby quilts in the 80's with gingham. As long as you are not mixing, I don't see any problem...some of those quilts are still around. I had to do a bit of repair work on one that was my niece's. She wanted it fixed when she was pregnant with her son. Another niece has her teddy quilt saved for when she has kids.
