Your best bet is to make something that is wanted that other sellers aren't making. My sister's makes quite a bit at some shows selling potholders and similar items. However, the sales at these shows have been horrible for the last 2 years. My sister, who makes doll clothes (American Girl, Barbie, etc.) has abandoned most craft shows now and sells at 'boutique' shows because those who show up to these are not pinching pennies. They buy. The folks who run the boutique shows only have ONE seller of doll clothes and ONE seller of quilts, etc, and they are usually higher quality.
I plan to make sports oriented remote control holders to see if they will sell. My BIL loves his.

Prices are often regional, and according to where the sale is being held in a lot of areas. The same with what is popular, but smaller inexpensive items are usually always a hit :D:D:D

A lot of work too, but still fun! Thanks!
I saw bibs, burp bibs, hanging towels today at Farmer's Market.

I've contributed 'bookcases' - pillowcases with books that match the theme of the fabric. I'll post some later today when I finish the ones for this year.
Also made some baby bibs to see how they will sell - those are quick & easy.

the casserole carrier was a hit with my brother , made with the U of M fabric . he tailgates at the games.
so my thinking would be, if you make things out of your states pro-teams, they may sell well.
also items for cats and dogs..or items made from cat or dog material. snap bags seem to sell well..different sizes.

In my area, sales of crafted items seem to have really dropped off. I was at a town festival yesterday that had a whole area set up with a variety of booths selling everything from fresh honey to sunglasses and t-shirts. I felt so sorry for the lady with the beautifully stitched resonably priced craft items. They just were not selling. She had bibs, aprons, pot holders, place mats, casserole carriers, etc made in modern fabric and well stitched. My daughter noticed them first and said "Mom, she isn't even charging enough to hardly pay for her fabic" and they still weren't moving. Maybe it was too hot or the wrong venue but I bet she was sorry she came.

be careful doing things for sale out of pro team fabrics. it isn't legal and says so on the selvedge edge. Not to rain on your parade but I wouldn't want to see you get in trouble. It has happened around here twice.
Big fines.
