There are also products that you can buy (Nancy's Notions catalog) that will actually *make* the crinkle look immediately.
Any idea what it's called?

I would NOT use Texture Magic in a quilt. First of all, you have to sew it on, so it would not work on a finished quilt. Second, it's more for fashion sewing. It would crinkle far too much to be attractive in a quilt.

Yeah I have to agree it's too much texture for me. I think that would really obscure the piecing.

You did a great job. I love the fabric choices and the scrappy look of your quilt. I dry mine in the dryer and that does make it krinkly. If you take to the laundry mat, don't put it on the highest heat. Great job on first quilt.

OK, far from perfect (in fact I'm still trying to decide if I can live with some of the mistakes), but the piecing of my second quilt top is done. It'll be much bigger, with lots of negative space to showcase the FMQ I'm planning on doing. Hmmm, perhaps a tad ambitious for a beginner quilter, but we'll see!

Your style makes a very strong statement, love it! Don't be afraid of FM. This will be a great way to get started. Please show us the quilting.

Please wash all colors as they will run. Esp. Reds, greeens and blues and blacks. I use Shout out fabric sheets in the wash to keep the colors from running. There are other products out there as well. Check w/ your local quilt shop.
You sure don't want to ruin your quilt after all the work. Nice job on your first one. Drying w/ a elec. dryer will draw up the fabric and batting, even though it is prewashed. Make sure your quilting is at the recommended distance apart as stated on the batting package . Welcome to the board. You will learn from us. I am still learning.

I just popped some colour catchers in the machine when I washed it and it all came out fine. My second quilt is mostly white with some super bright red and blue, but I'm using Kona Cotton Solids, which I hope will be ok!
