I buy my hexies, etc from paper pieces, Paducah key...I also bought the acrylic template for each size...I like her templates because those have 3/8" seam allowance...easier than 1/4....also, look into Mickey Depre's fun hexies....

If you want to use squares of fabric just cut your squares 1 1/2" bigger than your hexi template. A 1" template takes a 2 1/2" square 1 1/4" hexi takes a 2 3/4" square, a 2" hexi takes a 3 1/2" square. You get the picture!

This is where I print my hexagons. You can also go to texasfreckles.com I haven't been to that site in a while, but she had some nice hints at one time.

I agree. They make a great take-along project. I love working on them in the car and on the plane. I have a small container that I take with me whenever I leave the house. The container holds my paper hexies, fabric, scissors, bobbins with thread.

I bought my paper hexies and use my GO hexagon cutter to cut my 2 1/2" squares into hexies. Great way to use up my 2 1/2" scraps.

I print out my paper hexies, and cut them out with scissors. I use mostly 1 inch hexies, so I cut the fabric in 2 1/2 inch strips. then into 2 1/2 inch squares. Pin the paper to the square, lope off the four corners, then baste. Of course if you are using larger or smaller hexies, would need to adjust the size for the fabric. Just make sure you have a good seam allowance with what ever size you are using. Good luck.

I cut squares and have extra fabric on the back. I am not going to hand quilt, and do not stitch thru the paper. I am using the Large Hexie punch from Fiskars for my papers and I think they are 5/8 inch.
