Wish I had that problem. I only have a small closet to work out of.

My sewing room is need of a makeover, BIG TIME!! I wish I could go away and come back to a great reveal like trading spaces, or while you were out, or something!

Ladies, thank goodness for smaller rooms and small closets! With all of that fabric, you need to control what you are realy doing - collecting or sewing? Be real-get rid of a lot of that either by donating it or selling it - you don;t need or want that much material.....it's really slowing ou down and that burden is a heavy one! Do yourself a favor--yes, get rid of everything that is maybe 2 or more years old!!!

I recently changed my room but I identified what wasn't working and made a plan to make it better. I LOVELOVELOVE my new layout. It's still a small room and I still bump into things on occasion but it feels more creative and I know that I can't go shopping willy-nilly because I have no storage space left. If I bring some in - then some must go out first.

I kind of had to laugh at your description because you sound alot like me! Upstairs we have 2 bedrooms and the 'open' room at the top of the stairs that I claim as my sewing room. It has 2 machines in Horn cabinets, a sofa, an antique cabinet with a TV and a pie safe directly at the top of the stairs. When DD is off at college, I move my ironing board into her room and lay projects out on her bed. The running joke is that she has to give me 24 hour warning before coming home to visit. Now that other DD is married, I am also creeping into her room. My cutting mat is on a desk that is in there, I have stored all my fabric tubs in there and I also have projects laid out on her bed.

I remodeled my sewing room about a year ago. I've been moving things around since - I think I finally hit on a combination I like. It took a while of living and working in it to settle in and figure out where things felt right.
