do you keep a quilting journal?

Sara,
About that flash drive ...Not sure I got by cheaper as my daughter & grandaughter are both living with us & they are using our computer. It's getting harder to get time on the computer now that summer break is over & everyone is wanting to use the computer in the evenings (for homework) so that's why it took me awhile to reply. I think you may have made the wiser choice!! :D
I gave my daughter a whole computer. Now you tell me I could have got by cheaper. ha ha.

Hi,
I started quilting two years ago. I am so excited about the many ideas that come and the different ways to bring them to life. In my journal I too have photographs showing the various stages of progress, but I also have a story to go with each. Who did I make it for and how the idea was developed is included. Every quilt has a story and lessons that I learned about quilting and life in making it. I then include samples of the fabrics that were used.
For one quilt I took a picture of the quilt and then made personalized note cards for the recipient of that quilt. It was a really unique gift package of a wall hanging quilt with matching note cards. I think I will do this from now on.

The front of the card read, " A Note From Trina". The Hip-Hop Bear has musical note brads fastened in background of wall hanging quilt.

Wow, a quilting journal on flash drive. I never would have thought of that! Now that I have made about 20 quilts, and only have pics of a few.
I guess I was so busy thinking about the next quilt I would make, I had no thoughts about historical value or keeping track.
Once in a while I try to make a mental list of all the quilts I have made. Does that count? LOL

hi ellis' granny b,
such good ideas. i think the more info we record the more our efforts will be appreciated by the future generations. many of us have folks in our lives that inspired us to begin quilting and i for one wish they had recorded more of their thoughts and feeling as they were creating these family heirlooms. but i guess they were too busy keeping body and soul together, as they say.
your bear quilt is as adorable as they come. so cute and destined to be someones treasure.

I'm still a beginner but I've started keeping a journal of my work. I found a website that has a pretty front page to print out for the notebook as well as a page to detail each quilt. All you have to do is fill in the blanks. (You would need to copy that page to complete for each of your quilts.)
