Yes, I name my machines! After my grandma, previous owners, friends, and the FW my hubby brought home I call Daddy's Girl. He doesn't think that is funny, but I do!

My newest machine is a $200 FW. She is my first named machine. Mary Belle, my grandmother's name, Mary the lady who sold her to me and HER mother, Belle. For a name, it's a Win all around.

my other machines are:

Singer slantomatic, not sure the series, was my grad gift in 1974 (mom had got it used in 1960) this is my main machine, a workhorse. It takes the black "top hat" cams

Babylock 3 thread serger, inherited

Babylock Grace, purchased used from this quilting board $300 (lots of vibration when sewing, but it surely does some pretty stitches.

Newhome or White, given me by a friend, but I think she paid $35. Built in Cam Stack which is locked up, but it sews straight & zigzag quite nicely.

Hoover in a cabinet, but the manual is Singer stamped out, with Hoover under it, purchased at estate sale, orig $170, marked to 75% off, a steal at $42.50

Newhome treadle in a cabinet, everything is there but the pitman & the drawers are beat up.

Pre 1900 long bobbin, needs lots of TLC, will probably end up as only a shelf machine.

Yup, I name my machines. There's my Elan 500 that is named Fanny, after my Aunt and my Singer 201 named Ida, in honor of my sister's MIL who left it to me when she passed.

Patrice/cashs_mom, no, the FW is the first one I named. I kind of get a kick out of saying "the hoover" to people & they look around for a vacuum. hehehe

Normally I don't name them but I have made one exception. My Singer 66 treadle is named after the woman who owned it for almost 70 years.
