A serge is a edge finisher and after you square up your p.roject you do the edge finish around your project.It looks like the finished edge in the clothes you buy love my serge but I do need to up grade :-D

A serger trim (cuts) the edges of fabric as it approches the sewing needle ,which then makes an overcasting of threads on the fabric. It is capable of doing a variety of work, but I can't figure how to do anything but trim and edge.LOL But I love it for that!

I'm sure going to remember it when I do any more quilts - as far as I'm concerned, even though it's probably not "traditional", it saves me time and effort, and that makes it great.
