Does Anyone Have a Pfaff sewing machine?
#21
Hello. I’ve been Pfaff loyal since 1998. I wouldn’t own another brand. I have the Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.2 and a smaller Pfaff Passport 2.0 for workshops and classes. I love them both. They are dependable work horses in my opinion. Good luck and have fun with your purchase.

I too am a Pfaff gal.. Started off with a used 2058 back in 2005 then bought a 2170 (which I gave to my daughter). I replaced the 2170 with a Creative 2.0 and recently picked up a used Creative Sensation.. I still use the 2058 for classes and retreats and the Creative sensation I use daily. I love the Pfaffs - the IDT is fantastic and I would not be without it. The Embroidery stitches as well as the straight stitching and specialty stitches all stitch out beautifully. Imho, you could not go wrong with one of the newer machines

Does anyone have a Pfaff sewing machine?
I have a Pfaff Creative Vision 5.0 and LOVE it. I use it almost every day, either quilting, sewing or embroidery. I bought it for myself in 2010 when I retired. My dealer has tried to get me to upgrade to a newer model but I will just keep this one.

I purchased a Pfaff Performance 5.2 slightly used, less than 8 hours of use, and have found it to be a good dependable machine. For me it is not one to haul to retreats, too heavy, but as I have gotten to know it and Googled for tutorials now and again, it has been a good solid machine for my use. I was particularly interested in the larger arm/harp space and that make a big difference in my quilting.
Purchasing a new machine is a big decision. Take your time after you decide on the features that matter most to you. Also important is to purchase from a shop or have easy access to a shop with a Pfaff expert. The shop I purchased from has a good reputation in the community and I got a deal on my machine. But, sadly, the person who sat with me for my "training" read to me from the manual and fumbled with adding feet, programing the special features and so on. The shop is now closed and the nearest shop is more than an hour away.

No way can you go wrong with getting a Pfaff, no matter what model. I have had Pfaffs for a long time, and one you get used the IDT and see how it works, you'll love how it helps your piecing. Go for it

I bought a Pfaff Ambition 620 about 1 year ago. I bought a Bernina Bernette many years ago and was very disappointed in the quality of this "modern" machine so I wasn't too sure about this purchase. Since my other machines are mechnical (Featherweight and 401a), the Pfaff was a little difficult for me to get used to. I bought it for the IDT and the eyelet buttonhole stitch. My primary complaint is getting the thread through the take up lever. The lever doesn't fully come out of the case and it is difficult to get the thread through the slot. To avoid this, I just cut the old thread at the top, tie the new thread on and pull through. I also had a stitch quality issue when too much lint built up in the bobbin case.
Overall, what I like my Pfaff is ...
The IDT.
Visible bobbin.
Thread cutter.
Lots of light in the sewing area.
I DON"T like ...
The take up lever threading.
Hard to see the guidelines on the needleplate. I solved this by buying a 1/4" foot and an adjustable guide foot.
Overall, I would give it an 8 out of 10. I haven't tried any FMQ. But I would like to suggest that when you get a demo from the dealer, bring samples of the type of sewing you do to make sure that it works for you. Also, check Pfaff.com for any bonuses they might be running for the machine you choose.
Hope this helps! Have a great day.
