I recently bought EQ8 and I'm having fun with it. I find it pretty intuitive to use and the lessons also help. I haven't noticed any glitches yet. I'm using Windows 10.

tropit - Glad it is going well!! You will have lots of fun with it I am sure. If you go to the EQ site and look under downloads there are extra fabrics and projects that you can add to give you more flexibility in your designing.. Also the EQ Blog (Behind the Mouse) often has great step by step directions to do some interesting things that are not intuitive.

each program purchased can be installed on two different computers/tablets but I think when you buy it's downloaded to a single email address although I'm guessing there is a way to change that in case you changed your email address. Not really sure. Would seem they would have a way to restrict that though.

Yes. EQ will help you with this if you need assistance. I bought a used copy of the program for my mom, EQ helped me get it set up and running on her computer, it didn't matter that she wasn't the original buyer/owner of the software.
Back when they had limited installs (I think that was only on EQ7?), I had it installed on 2 computers, one died and they reset my license so I could install it again on the new computer.

Kari Schell is great teacher. I have signed up for her lessons in EQ8. I got along much better in EQ7 but I have found (for me) EQ8 is a whole new 'kettle of fish' different set up with a lot's features added and of course means more to learn. Love EQ8 though.

I had 7 but couldn't find it lol until after I purchased 8. But I figured it was well worth it. I did complete a few quilts with 7 before but also could never figure out how to do applique on top of the blocks so thank you for that link. I was hoping with 8 they would tell us how to do landscape and portrait style quilts which use unusual blocks. So I'll let you know how that goes later on. Long ago I figured out how to add my fabrics at least and how to utilize certain blocks and did some drawing but got stuck with the draw block method too. I will definitely have time on my hands and will be watching the videos I will post on here as well as quiltersclubofamerica and my youtube channel as I go through what I learn. cjshomemadechannel

I recently purchased EQ8. Caught a sale and used Honey app. Then once I played around with it a day or two, went back on the site and bought "EQ8 Lessons for Beginners" "EQ8 Designing more Quilts" EQ8 Drawing Blocks by Kari Schell" EQ8 Block Library" Again, used Honey Ap for discounts. That time of year when they give discounts. In the mail with the books, I got two 25% off coupons for my next purchase before 12/31/20. I have been very impressed with the books. I immediately started using the Lessons for Beginners books. Takes you by the and and literally walks you through it. Great text explanation in addition to snap shots of the program. It starts off having you go through the "restore" function to ensure that what you see in the software matches the book in text and graphics. (in case you played around at first before using the book) Who ever their layout, manual and trainer is who lays out the books is the best. Quality work. After the first lesson, I relaxed and found this software program will be a piece of cake. It is a well designed program. Full of features. No I have no affiliation with the company or anyone who works there. Before I retired, I developed training material, instructed and set benchmarks for students to meet in order to determine if they were learning and producing. I was in the field of "Emergency Management"

I hope to make contacts with newbies like me to quilting, your projects, tips etc...I have made two quilts in my life, one back in the 70's and one about 16 years ago and took me until i retired this year to complete that one. Whew. Now I have all the time in the world to get started on more quilts and crafts!!

Enjoy the journey, Deborah, and welcome to the board. I love EQ8 and have designed and made more quilts then I thought I would. I have many more designed that I would like to produce. I never purchased the books but appreciate the feedback on those. I considered joining Kari’s group to learn more..I’ve heard wonderful things about her lesson plans. There is no doubt that I am not using all the features available but the answers are always quickly received when I stumble and reach out.

DeborahC--I totally agree their books are so helpful! I basically keep them nearby and treat them as reference books when I'm trying to come up with new ideas. I had EQ7 and while I liked it, I find EQ8 so much easier to use.
