I just read on another site that someone used Dr. School's odor eaters to get rid of the smell in the FW case.

The case is all wood under the usual black covering, somebody just stripped it all off. Nice machine.

If you got the 221 Featherweight that was on ebay, it said it doesn't run. You probably need a new foot pedal. They seem to go bad on featherweights. Sometimes, you can take the foot pedal/controls apart and fix it, but usually they have to be replaced.
Most of these machines are very easy to fix. Sometimes the motor has to be rewired, but not a big job.
    Good luck, Enjoy the machine

Look at the model number and then go to this site http://www.singer-featherweight.com/...es/dating.html to determine when your FW was made..
I have 2 FW that are beige/tan that has 221K on it and I pulled
up this site and there is not a model number to match the one
on these. The model number is EV981958. Do you know when
this model was made or where I can find out.
    Check out this site: http://www.singerco.com/support/mach.../double-letter
Looks like your was made in Clydebank, Scotland in 1964

Karen, Thanks for the tip on the "Odor Eaters" for my musty machine case. Try the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato, oregano(sprinkle) and a smidge of Parmesan. YUMMY peterparley

I am wondering about the carrying case--I had heard they were beautiful wood if stripped but have always been afraid to prove it.
