    Well, I think elizajo is a darned genius! Cardboard cutting mat with a hole, plus plastic sheeting - genius, I tell you!!

    Also, similar to what quilter711 said, I use Turtle Wax paste wax on my extension table. Took a class on FMQ and that's what the teacher had suggested.

    Thank you all for your help. I'll try the wax and next time I will starch the daylights out of the back. Holice thanks for the suggestion about having a top made. I had thought of that, now I know it's a good idea.
