Martelli "Get a Grip" no-slip pad
    Available on Amazon
    Best $10.50 I ever spent!
It solved years of being aggravated over my slipping/sliding foot pedal. I love it.

Crafty Gemini has directions for making a stay put holder for your foot pedal. Her site has that and quite a few other interesting sewing projects. She has been on MSQ with Jenny Doan doing projects as well.

I put a heavy duty rubber band around the foot pedal and a 4 foot long stick about 1 inch by 2 inches. That stick is placed right next to the two table legs just to the right of the spot at which I like to sit and sew. If there were a wall back there, the stick would bump against that and be secure, but I'm in the middle of the room at a dining table. So I put a second stick just in front of the back legs and the stick with the pedal rubber banded on bumps up against that. My feet can find the pedal every time. Well almost. Sometimes I have to look, but it isn't far from where it belongs.

I have mine on a rubber backed mat, still moves so I just move it back to where I want it.

    Welcome to this board.

The rubber bands idea didn't work for me, and the shortening the cord just meant it travelled sideways which was just as aggravating....
I tried the idea that Crafty Geminin had and that wasn't successful either. The carpet was too plush and the foot pedal moved because it would depress the pile when the pedal was depressed. My current fix is the best one yet!

Similar to the drawer liner, I have used a scrap from the "rubber" rug padding. Works OK and doesn't cost $10. I also find that adjusting my sitting position helps me from shoving the pedal as much. As Mother said, "Posture!"

I’ve been sewing on an old table in the Sun Room. Since it’s a pedestal table, my foot pedal is lodged against one of the four claw feet ! (I don’t like sewing on a round table however !)

Odd that hasn't happened to me. Must be the floor surface.

I do have a wooden box for my foot pedal. It is the masurement of the pedal. Wooden bottom, with the back and sides higher than the pedal it is.
