Hi I tried to draw the block on EQ7 but with dealing with a 6.5" block, I figured that the 4 patch in the center measures 2 7/16 finished. You could make them 3". I would then undo the a stitch on both seams to open up the center. (Eleanor Burns technique) Press it so it is flat as a pancake and then using a glue stick place it in the center. Has to be exact otherwise it could look crooked.

You can always increase the size of the block to make it easier. Good Luck. This is not an easy PP pattern to have as your first project.

Whether it is easy or hard you still just do one seam at a time. I tend to be excited by hard or complicated patterns too. My second pp project ever had over 300 pieces in a 12 x 12 square. Don't let it intimidate you, it will be worth it in the end.

I really like how it's coming together! Little bit tricksy getting the teeny four patch lined up properly, but other than that, it's been ok!

I like your material. Are you going to make one block different like the pattern shows or keep it the same? Either way, it will be beautiful.

I think I'm just gonna do them all the same colour, I'll get too confused if I try and mix it up!

It really is beautiful. Looks hard. But you can do it.

I agree with ckcowl, make the center 4-patch as one unit, then proceed per the instructions.

    Me three.

Using both terms "foundation" and "paper" seems kind of redundant....

The quilt will be beautiful! I've always loved Storm At Sea quilts.
