Funny how a couple of days gives you a different perspective.

I hardly ever like my quilt when it's in the been-quilted-but-not-squared up-and-bound stage. That last step is the clincher to make it "just wonderful"! Sometimes I have to force myself to finish due to this anomaly, but I have had only one quilt in 30 years that was horrid after it was completed. I gave that sucker away and have not thought about it until this topic came up!

Sometimes the image I have in my mind is the only one I can measure my success, and when it not that exact image I get sooo disappointed. But like you if I just give it some time I can adjust that "image" I had when I started , and realize what I ended up with is just a good as the one I had in my mind.

Jan: Feel the same way you do about the binding. I don't know what happens but when that binding goes on even the worst becomes magical. People look at me very strangely when I say this but I swear its true. Maybe its the weight of all the quilters that have gone before.

You're not bonkers, just suffered a temporary lapse after working on a quilt for some time. Stepping away for a day or two can do wonders and bring things back into perspective. I'm sure it's a beautiful quilt.
