As I understand, you have to do everything on a laptop that's attached to the machine. They are great sewing machines, but the embroidery set-up for them quickly became obsolete. Do you have a more specific question?

My laptop that I had for my 440 died, and it took me a few years, to get things straightened out, and I just got art link installed on an older laptop I can just have dedicated to my 440. I have not used it yet. I was able to use it on the first laptop, with very little issues. What kind of laptop do you have. I tried to use art link on my new HP laptop, and had so many issues, I had to trash it. Actually, my wonderful Bernina Dealer I have been going to for 28 years, loaded it on my laptop, and tested out for me each time I have switched laptops, free of charge. That is customer service for you. I would go to your dealer, for help, as it might be something as simple as an upgrade, that they may have available, that you would need to run your software. Good luck.

Please post what the answer was after you figure this out. I have the 435 (same machine, anniversary edition) and am considering buying the embroidery module. But if it's really difficult to use the system with a laptop I think I'd rather upgrade the machine. Thanks for the help!

Hi my question is what software can I use? I'm really confused by the software part of it and the place I bought it from isn't helpful. I never should have bought from them but that's a lesson learned. I want to be able to embroider words but can't figure out how.

Do you have the instruction manual? I have the 440 with the module & use it so seldom that I refer to the manual every time. You can use any softwood program with this. I have some Anita Gooddesigns that I just pop in the laptop & hit the read design button, I also have used designs from the Embroidery library. If it didn't come with the manual you should be able to buy one. Trust me, you need that book! This machine does way more than I can remember on my own!
